So I’m trying to get a wemo switch to turn on whenever I turn on a specific philips hue light. I made variables and conditions for “livingroomlight_on” but now I don’t know how I can have a philips hue light being on or off update the variable? Apparently I can’t use philips hue as a trigger which is why I was lead to Apilio, because I heard there was a way I can use philips hue as a trigger?

as long as the Philips Hue integration with IFTTT doesn’t offer the trigger needed, you can’t have that information in Apilio.
The only way I can think of is to control the light (and the wemo plug) through a more flexible solution (e.g. a WiFi button with good IFTTT integration, or a wemo switch).
