Last reported device status

When my Tuya/Smart Life battery-charged temperature sensors die, the device status remains unchanged since the last reported date and time. That’s all very nice and probably fine. Nonetheless, I find it an issue since I don’t find out that the device is not reporting anything back. Is there any way to be notified when a device stops reporting back (it only becomes visible to me when I go to the device and check its status to find out that the last reported took place two weeks ago)? Maybe I’m missing something and this is solved someplace else. I just want to be informed of when a device stops reporting back so that I can address the issue.

Hi @mike.b.silberman,
does the Tuya device report the battery status? I think most of them do.
Then you could create a condition (maybe with a delay?) on that.
If this is a big request from the users, we could also implement a dedicated feature for this use case.

Hi @pebneter

That’s a good point, however, my experience is that the device “dies” before it can send a message that it’s about to die. The last reported time/date could be a valuable feature, if one could utilize it. More importantly, I think, is if one just knew when and if a device stops reporting with an alert. Thanks.

If you get the batter level (reliably) you could setup a condition (e.g. batter level below 5%) and then send you a notification a few days later. Not as good as a real observation of missing data, but might achieve the same goal.
