Using Apilio to switch off hue lights triggered by Wyze Cam

Hey all,

I have the wyze cam and Phillips hue lights in my living room and I’ve set a command on the IFTTT app to turn on the living room lights whenever the wyze cam detects motion, and this works perfectly.

Right now the lights stay on and I need to find a way to turn them back off after 5 mins.

Can anyone guide me through this in simple terms pls as I’m new to all these?

Thank you.

Hey Rilwan, thanks for the great question. I think the article below may help. DanT

Hi @rilwantj, the article that @DanT linked will help, and in summary what you want to do is to send two events to IFTTT:

  • Turn on the lights
  • (5 minutes later) turn off the lights

You can also check out this more sophisticated example from @jrmckins

“if it’s between sunset and sunrise (i.e. it’s “dark” out), and motion is detected by my ring doorbell, then turn on the front porch light and turn it off after 5 minutes”. Unfortunately, if someone walked up to the door 4 minutes after the original motion was detected, the light would still turn off after the original 5-minute delay expired.
